Mossend Railhead provides round-the-clock, round-the-year
access to state-of-the-art intermodal transport facilities.
Recent major investment guarantees customers
and users access to flexible services and the latest equipment.
Mossend Railhead operates as an “inland
port” – capable to handling truck deliveries,
offloading, transfer to rail and connection to the network
in a seamless series of movement.
The facility provides a reliable transfer point
for bulk materials including coal, steel, chemicals, sand
and waste. It includes 16,500 square metres of intermodal
space, and additional rail warehousing.
Skilled staff take care of security, transfers,
record-keeping and all ancillary services.
Key equipment includes an “under rubber-tire gantry”
and a modern 45 tonne reach stacker.
Mossend Railhead is a few minutes from the M8
and M74 motorways and within an hour’s drive of 75 per
cent of the Scottish population as well as major distribution
and manufacturing centres.
Wagons loaded and unloaded at Mossend Railhead
can be shunted to join the main national freight railway network,
located within just a few hundred yards.
The load “journey”
Trucks carrying everything from containers to bulk
materials arrive for check-in at Mossend Railhead’s
modern office. From there it’s a short trip to
the weighbridge – if required – and onward
to loading and unloading either to secure storage or
rail wagon.
Our facilities can ensure a turnaround as brief as
15 minutes, depending on load requirements. All activities
are logged so that records are easily available for
users.
